Dog Illnesses - Don't Let Your Dog Catch Dog Flu, Read More About It 1

Canine influenza is an antiviral viral infection of the upper and lower respiratory and digestive systems, bringing the dog's companion stool. Recently diagnosed with Greyhound at a number of racetracks in Florida and around 11 states. It is not contagious to humans and it is not so bad for dogs as you might think. It is a fairly new disease and is said to affect almost all dogs when they come into contact with the said virus. The disease is not as serious as rabies and other illnesses that affect dogs. But be careful

Symptoms

Symptoms include a mild fever, nasal discharge, and a cough that may last up to 3 weeks. Symptoms include high fever, increased breathing with dyspnea, and other signs of pneumonia. Symptoms usually appear 2-5 days after the dog has been exposed to the virus. Symptoms are often mistaken for kennel cough, a common dog illness in dogs.

Canine influenza actually comes from Asia, but it has nothing to do with bird flu. There is no vaccine for 80% of dogs coming into contact with infected animals due to the major illness of dogs and the relatively new appearance of the virus. It is a highly contagious and potentially deadly new virus that causes respiratory infections only among dogs. Early symptoms mimic another common dog condition called kennel cough, so it is not easy to diagnose. Canine flu can be treated with appropriate treatment.
