What's So Great About Home Wind Power?

As an environmentalist, I am clearly passionate about using renewable energy on my own. I am further committed to spreading the word to others about the benefits of renewable energy. Why do people need to invest in wind and solar power systems?

Renewable energy means no pollution. Instead of using coal, gas and nuclear power, we use wind and solar energy.

In addition, using renewable energy at home means freedom from utility companies and rising prices. This price increase will continue as non-renewable energy sources are consumed and power companies are forced to keep up with investments in renewable energy systems.

Upfront investment is necessary for renewable energy in the home. This can be large for systems that supply power to the entire house, or less if they only reduce electricity charges somewhat. If you are enjoying a DIY project, it's very easy to get started with home renewable energy.

We live in the countryside with good wind speed. I started with a DIY energy project that created a wind turbine to drive my workshop. The low-cost DIY project was a lot of fun and taught me about domestic and foreign wind power generation. I must say I'm crazy now!

Next, we installed a wind power generation system on the grid. This was a large investment, but it added great value to the price of the house. This wind power system is not something you can build yourself because it contains state-of-the-art technology that means it is very efficient in using the kinetic energy of the wind. At present, there are wind towers in our backyard that cover about 70% of the electricity demand. When not all energy is consumed, sell back to local utilities for profit.

My next project is to purchase and install an off-grid system in a remote holiday cabin. The energy consumption is so small that it should be possible to power the cabin with a relatively small system.
