Gummy fruit snacks are everywhere and contain many popular cartoon characters, so you might find it good for you. In reality, however, they are none other than processed sugars that appear to look healthy. Therefore, if you are giving these things to your children, you may want to consider a healthier alternative.
These sweet treats have actually existed since the early 1900s, but were not popular until the 1980s. Their popularity soared because it could be molded into hundreds of different shapes and sizes.
But many of us are unaware that they are full of corn syrup, gelatin, partially hardened oil, artificial flavors and colors. Also, because it contains gelatin, it is highly viscous and often prone to tooth decay. That is why many dentists do not recommend giving these to children.
And many might argue that it contains fruit juice, but it is not enough to be considered beneficial. And you may think organic is better, but think again! They also contain disguised unhealthy ingredients and are just as bad for your child.
Not only is it bad for your teeth, it can also cause heart disease, diabetes and obesity in your child. So instead of providing a snack with no nutritional value, provide a better choice, such as fresh fruit. They provide an excellent source of vitamins and fiber.
If the child is noisy, dried fruits can be provided. However, be aware that if sugar or other artificial ingredients are included, these are equally bad. If you don't accept either, try introducing fruit juice. Juice does not contain as many nutrients as the real thing, but it is nutritious and a healthier alternative. Make sure it is 100% natural, not cocktails, because it contains corn syrup. Eat right and live better for the children and for yourself.
