Erotic Review: American Swing - A Documentary About Plato's Retreat

The 1970s were a transition from the 1960s Woodstock era.

There was a sexual revolution that continued to grow and became more apparent in New York City.

In 1977, Larry Levinson was able to obtain a loan for a man who had little money himself to start a heterosexual swingers club in New York City called Plato's Retreat. It was a place to meet and meet new people. It was also a place to dance to the disco beat. However, the most famous was a sex club.

American Swing is a documentary that features candid interviews with former club guests, former club employees, and friends of the club owner [Larry Levinson] [now decades ago]. You can also see many live-action images of the actual activities that were the club standard.

Many of the interviews were very straightforward in some ways, but were also humorous memories of their experience at the club.

Plato's retreats attracted local and national attention from shows such as the Fildnaughu show. Larry seemed to attract attention and was at the top of the world.

Plato's retreat was a secret world open to the public. It was a town story and a popular hot spot visited by celebrities. Larry's vision was to commercialize the Swingers Club to the general mainstream by opening clubs in various cities across the country.

His vision was ambitious, but the United States was not ready.

By the 1980s, Americans were particularly concerned about AIDS and had different views on gender. The very sad and ridiculous decline of Plato's Retreat and its owners crashed at the end. It was the end of the era.

From the perspective of watching an interesting documentary for entertainment purposes and background information about the club, this is a great documentary to watch. It's not a family-friendly movie, but it's great to watch it with important and adult friends who may want to know about this very interesting club.

Don't expect to be knocked down your feet with this documentary. But what I feel in this movie is a wonderful looking-down memory lane that was looked down on in a very interesting time and never replicated.
