Remodeling Your Bathroom - What Does a 4 Inch Spread Faucet Say About Your Home? 1

Prior to entering the kitchen and bath industry, I had never thought about the difference between the four “expanded faucets” and the “8” widened faucets. I grew up in a small country town, but honestly I don't remember the type of faucet I've ever seen, including my own. My parents built a new house in the late 70s, so all the faucets were 4 inches wide or were called mini faucets.

Even in my twenties, I owned a house and renovated on a low budget. I had to express Kohler's 50's blue by myself. Oddly enough, I don't really know the official name of the color. I went to the home depot and bought a new pedestal sink. There were four “drilling faucets”. I thought it was really “upgrading”. It was definitely an upgrade, but if you knew a little extra money in advance, you made a big difference.

What is a big deal if you have 4 "and 8" spread faucets? And for many of us ... what does that mean anyway! The sink or countertop will determine the required faucet spread. A hole can be drilled to match the faucet. Look at drilling. When measuring tape is applied to the holes, there is a 4 "or 8" spread between them. Note that in all plumbing situations, measure from the center of the hole, not the right or left of the hole. All piping measures are taken from the center of the hole.

The advantage of buying an 8-inch spread or as a popular faucet is that it tends to be known as “high-end”. This means that the renovation was taken seriously. Perhaps these issues are not important to you and are fine. Let's look at a more practical reason for choosing the two faucet types.

1. Normally, it is more difficult to clean the eight “expanded faucets”. This is because there are three flanges to clean.

2. The quality of the 8 “expanded faucets” is usually better than 4 faucets. I should state that it is better than usual. Between the function and the finish, “spreads should usually win in the long run, and 4” spread faucets are usually available only in chrome.

3. Because of the first two points, the desire to achieve something better is the reason for getting an 8-inch faucet.

Now is the time of reality. Buy a generous faucet. I have a budget. It doesn't matter whether there are 4 or 8 taps. You don't have to impress your friends, family, and enemies. If you can afford it, go for it. If not, enjoy the water that runs out of it. It is about water. No one needs to be moved. Just have fun. Family and friends are much more important than the chosen faucet.
