The Inspiron netbook is the first entry into the netbook segment of the Dell market. You can think of a netbook as a mini laptop. Netbooks sacrifice some of the more powerful elements found in laptops and instead focus on compactness, user friendliness, and power savings.
Dell competition includes Asus Eee PC 901, Asus Aspire One, MSI Wind and more. However, the battery life of Dell mini is said to be about 4 hours.
The Inspiron Netbook is lightweight and compact, ready for the lifestyle on the go. Made to perform basic tasks of internet surfing, email, and possibly some word processing. It is not designed for users who need high processing power.
Netbooks are designed with basic functionality and cost-effectiveness in mind. For this purpose, Dell, like its competitors, used a less powerful Intel Atom and reduced the size as much as possible. It is designed to connect to the Internet wirelessly using Wi-Fi technology. This makes it ideal for students who need a device for taking notes, browsing the web on the go, and even listening to music.
Netbooks are extremely compact in design. For example, 8.9 “You can buy netbooks from my new laptop. For comparison, the average screen size of a laptop is about 15.”
The specs are not impressive but they serve the purpose. While the Inspiron Netbook only comes with Windows XP, most new laptops and PCs today come with Windows Vista.
But this is not bad news. InspironNetbook works well unless you expect too much. For example, netbooks struggle to get the most out of Microsoft Outlook. However, if you are an executive on the go and need a small device to handle the basics of long battery life, a netbook is the best solution.
An additional benefit of the low spec and operating system is cost. The Inspiron Netbook is one of the most affordable Netbooks and is certainly cheaper than most laptops.
It is not recommended to use the Inspiron Netbook as the main computer system. If you need more than basic functionality, it might be wise to spend money on a large laptop.
