History of Disney World - How Walt Disney World Came About 1

While Walt Disney was still alive, he had never seen the results of Disney World, but his concept was to make it happen. That's why he started the history of Disney World naturally. His concept continued to live after his death through his brother Roy Disney.

Walt Disney Ideas

Walt Disney didn't want another Disneyland. He dreamed of something more than Disneyland but similar. He still wanted to provide entertainment at a theme park. However, he wanted a place where new things could always be added and developed in his original parks and structures. Not only that, he wanted to test the concept of urban planning through this project. Certainly, what appeared as EPCOT or Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow was actually born from his ideas.

From open to now

Walt Disney World opened on October 1, 1971, five years after Walt Disney's death. It started with Disney's Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Resort, Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

The following year, a Disney village resort with a tree house and vacation villas was added. Later, Disney's Golf Resort and Discovery Island opened next in the next two years. In 1975, the Fairway Villa and Walt Disney Village Marketplace were built.

In June 1976, Disney's River Country Water Park was added. In 1980, the Walt Disney World Conference Center and Club Lake Villa, another village resort, were built. Later, EPCOT appeared in 1982.

In 1988, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Caribbean Beach Resort became available. In 1989, additional parks were added. MGM Studios, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Pleasure Island have opened.

From 1990 to 1992, more resorts were created for guests. These were Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort, Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Resort, Port Orleans Resort, Old Key West Resort and Disney's Dixie Landing Resort. Disney Vacation Club and Bonnet Creek Golf Club have also been added to the growing Walt Disney World.

In 1994, Disney's All-Star Sports Resort and Disney's Wildness Lodge became available. Later in 1995, Disney's All-Star Music Resort, Blizzard Beach Water Park, and a fairytale wedding pavilion were set up.

The following year, the Disney Institute and Disney's Boardwalk Resort were ready. Coronado Springs Resort continued in 1997. Disney's Wide World of Sports and Downtown Disney West Side came in the same year. Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney Quest appeared in 1998. In 1999, Disney's All-Star Movie Resort was added. In 2001 and 2003, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Pop Century Resort were added respectively. Finally, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa appeared in 2004.

This completed the list of facilities that have been available over the years. The history of Disney World has come a long way, but it continues every day because it touches the lives of many guests.
