All You Need to Know About Coffee Percolator Types 1

The word “coffee percolator” comes from the word “percolate” and means “permeate solvent”. Percolators are often used in camping and many outdoor activities.

The coffee percolator works by pouring hot water through a tube and then pouring it into the coffee grounds. This process is repeated until the desired result is obtained.

First, add water to the decanter and add coarsely ground coffee beans to the basket. The basket needs to be covered before the coffee is heated. Then use a basket to prevent coffee from accumulating in the container. The amount of coffee is determined at the top of the glass. When the process is complete, the coffee grounds can be discarded.

There are three versions of the percolator: electric, stove, and microwave percolator.
o Electric coffee percolator is the most common type that uses electricity. By stopping automatically when coffee is finished, more stable extraction is performed. When completed, it will switch to warming mode. Electric percolators have a built-in heating element that can be used cordlessly.

o Stovetop coffee percolator tends to release coffee bitterness as it can cause excessive boiling. This requires more careful use.

o Microwave coffee percolator is more effective with 42% less power.

Three popular percolators are the Faberware FCP412 cup percolator, the Cuisinart 6-12 cup classic electric percolator model PRC-12, and the MEDELCO PK008 8-cup glass stove percolator.

The two basic types of coffee percolator are pressure type and gravity type percolators.

Pressure type

Pressure types are usually made of metal that can be screwed together during use. There are mainly three sections.

o Lower section-water section.
o Mild section-fresh coffee grounds location.
o Upper section-resulting coffee place.

Some versions of the pressure type do not have an upper section. The upper tube can be bent to place coffee directly into the cup.

How to use.
Next, place the pressure type percolator in the heat source. When water reaches the boiling point, steam is formed. It creates a kind of pressure and pushes water through the tube into the coffee grounds. The mixture moves to the upper section for concentrated coffee results.

Gravity type

Gravity percolators continuously circulate boiling brews through the ground. Use gravity to get the desired strength of coffee. Components mainly consist of:

o A small room filled with water at the bottom.
o Vertical tube from lower chamber to top of pot.
o A perforated room with coarsely ground coffee at the end of the tube.

How to use.
The pot is placed on a heat source with water. The water needs to be below the bottom of the coffee chamber, where coffee beans can pass through a vertical tube on a perforated lid. Water penetrates from the ground and exits the coffee room. Return to the bottom half of the pot and push it up. As the boiling point is approached, the process repeats. Finally, the parking action stops.

Different types of coffee percolator are very popular. It is a favorite brewing method that is convenient and easy to use. Although several varieties have been born by several coffee enthusiasts, the coffee percolator still offers unique brewing quality and great coffee aroma.
