What is a computer network?

Star topology:

In this case, all computers are connected with a single cable. Information for the last computer must pass through all nodes. The main advantage is minimal wiring. However, if there is any failure in the cable, all computers will be affected.

Ring topology:

In this topology, all computers are connected by a single cable. End nodes are also connected to each other. The signal circulates through the network and reaches the intended recipient. If the network node is not configured correctly, or if there are other problems, the signal tries many times to find the intended recipient.

Collapsed ring topology:

In this case, the central node is a network device called a hub, router, or switch. This device runs on a ring with a plug-in for the cable. Each computer is also individually connected to the device via a separate cable.

Each organization chooses its own computer network topology to ensure efficient computer functionality. When the computer is connected, the office also has a separate cable closet. This is basically a space that contains switch devices that connect to the network.
