What Does the Bible Say About Giving Gifts at Christmas? 1

Gifting for Christmas dates back to Magi's gift. Magi was a wise man who gave him a gift when he was born. They were led by the Holy Spirit and went to Bethlehem according to the eastern stars to become witnesses of Jesus. birth. And when they saw him, they worshiped him and gave him a gift. Matthew 2: 10-11 said, “Once I got home, I saw the child with her mother Mary and bowed and worshiped. "There is this scripture to support our gifts during Christmas, but the tradition of giving gifts has become uncontrollable. We are probably our loved ones and friends I agree that buying a gift to has caused us a lot of financial grief.

We tend to over-extend ourselves because we want to make a big impression and look better with our own eyes. Get up at 3am and first line up at the “Black Friday” retail store to fight others to get the best deals. It would be no problem to save money on our gifts, but God never tried to do these things. The wise man gave Jesus a gift because he was the Lord and Savior who came to this world to save us. Not because they wanted to impress others. So what does the Bible say about giving a gift?

We are to give a gift to glorify God. Matthew 6: 1-4 “Be careful not to do the act of“ your righteousness ”as seen by them before men. Then you will not get rewards from your heavenly father. Do not announce it in the trumpet to honor men as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the street. I will tell you the truth. Don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. That way your giving may be kept secret. Because we should give it sincerely, not for a show. Do not be sure to receive it, but teach the children the joy of giving. And we should not give just to receive something in return. Because God gives us countless blessings on earth and in heaven.

You also need to give gifts at sparse or bad times. At 2 Corinthians 8: 7-9, Paul spoke to the church giving him a monetary gift and continued to work on Jesus. "But make sure that you are as good at this grace as you are at all, in faith, speech, knowledge, complete seriousness, and love for us. You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, he was rich, but you will be poor for you and you may be rich through poverty. May face severe economic and financial problems, but by giving time, volunteering, helping, praying for those in need, and making friends, You can give it to others, not just Christmas, but all year round.

And finally, the true gift of Christmas is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our society has moved away from celebrating the real reason for Christmas. Some of us believe that Santa Claus, Christmas trees, gifts, food and alcohol are the real reasons for this day. We give all the glory and praise to the world and keep Jesus Christ out of the equation. God gave us one and only son, Jesus-a gift of life! John 3:16 says, "Because God loved the world so much that he gave his only son, those who believe in him will not perish but will have eternal life." This is the greatest gift, a gift of salvation that only God can give. If we are convinced that we will always keep Christ at Christmas, it will be a natural expression of that gratitude all year long when we give it to others. James 1:17 says, "All the good and perfect gifts that came from the Father of Light from Heaven came from above ...". Merry Christmas!
