Did You Know About the Types of Soils in Your Lake Bottom? 1

Lake of destiny

Lakes vary in size-some lakes are large enough to be called the sea, while others are small enough to fit in the backyard. Such a small lake is often called a pond. When it comes to lakes, all lakes are temporary.

This is because it is displayed on a geological time scale. They will eventually become wetlands, and the day will be dry again. Therefore, the fate of the lake is to become good farmland during its lifetime.

When the next glacier comes and goes, millions of ponds and oceans form. This can take over 50,000 years-until then, you can do something productive on the mud and filthy lake bottom.

Did you know that there are various types of soil at the bottom of the pond that can be used interchangeably? They are -

• Sediment: A naturally occurring substance that is degraded by natural processes such as erosion and weathering.

This decomposed material is carried by wind, water and ice. Gravity moves this sediment to the nearest low point, which is most often a pond / lake.

• Marl: An ancient term for various soils that occur as loose sediments. They occur only in freshwater conditions and are a mixture of clay and calcium carbonate. Below the muddy deposits is a mudstone that is slippery, thick and clay-like.

• Silt: The part of the sediment where the particles are between sand and clay and the size is between 0.002 and 0.006 mm.

It is formed by erosion from other rocks and soil. It occurs as soil, or as floating sediment in the water, or on land that sinks to the bottom of the lake.

• Mud: It is a soft and sticky substance formed by mixing soil [reading soil] and water.

Mook: It is soil [or rather waste] made of humus. Therefore, it is organic matter that can be further broken down and survive for centuries. It is considered bad for the pond ecosystem. If you see them in your pond, you should definitely look for ways on how to remove the pond mud.

The simplest and easiest way to remove pond mud is to use a bacterial product called AquaClear pellets. Applied weekly, they are the most effective solution for removing pond mud.
