3 Good Christian Children's Books About Death 1

There are several attractive children's books on the market that target parents directly to their children for reading fun that helps parents explain their death to young children or incorporates death descriptions. But surprisingly some of these are especially Christian books. But I can recommend three very attractive books like this.

1] athlete's foot and dragonfly by Doris Stickney It was published in 1982 by Pilgrim Press. This is a very small and slim book that contains a story that begins from below the surface of a quiet pond in a small colony of athlete's foot. The story ends with the conversion of athlete's foot to a dragonfly and beautifully illustrates the fact that the dragonfly can't tell you what happened to the athlete's foot when it returns below the surface and what the new body life is like. Prayer continues. This can be used as a guide when children's readers pray for those who mourn for the loss. The book then gives parents a note that advises them that they can tell the child about death, and backs this up with a quote from Matthew and Mark showing how Jesus approached a small child. The book ends with a prayer to the parents. This is an ideal resource for parents who are unsure and uneasy about how to treat the subject.

2] Will I live forever? By Carolyn Nistrom and Jo-Anne Shilliam Released by Lion Hudson in 2006. Speak to the first person from the perspective of a young child, talk directly to readers with questions about sad and scary thoughts, and relate those questions to the child's world. This story summarizes the Christian understanding of why we died. Start with the story of creation and the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. In addition, it incorporates quotes from the Gospels. It is also very honest and easy about the physical process of death, such as body corruption, reasons for cremation or burial. Young children require that they be answered. This is a great book. A book that you want to access when you are young.

3] Grandma's party by Meg Harper This is a fun book centered on grandmother's funeral and provides a practical way to help children participate in the process of grief when a loved one dies. In addition to the story, it also includes creative craft ideas about how children get involved in tea preparation following the funeral. Recipe; Calligraphy instructions for making place cards. How to make a picture frame, a book of memories, a paper water lily. The book has a solid Christian foundation that explains the resurrection from the dead and ends with prayers that children can read at funerals. This is a nice and practical book that helps parents understand how to involve and include children at every stage. Therefore, death is part of life, not an alien or taboo or scary thing, but a wall of silence and a mysterious ritual.
